Sheki is Azerbaijan’s true travel gem, a small city off the forested slopes of the Greater Caucasus Mountains rich in Silk Road history and renowned for its fascinating architecture, food, and friendly residents.
Kick off your visit on the 8th (Fri): pause for some serene contemplation at Church of Kish and then admire the landmark architecture of Sheki Khans' Palace.

Drive from Baku to Sheki in 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of flight and taxi; or take a train. July in Sheki sees daily highs of 36°C and lows of 24°C at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 8th (Fri) so you can go by car to Gobustan.

Gobustan — 1 night

Gobustan Rock Art Cultural Landscape (UNESCO Heritage) covers three areas of a plateau of rocky boulders rising out of the semi-desert of central Azerbaijan, with an outstanding collection of more than 6,000 rock engravings bearing testimony to 40,000 years of rock art.
Kick off your visit on the 9th (Sat): don't miss a visit to Mud Volcanoes.
