The City of Eternal Flames, the City of Winds

A truly contemporary city criss-crossed by history, Baku offers everything from the modern elegance of the Flame Towers to the medieval UNESCO-listed Old City at its core.
When in Baku, make a side trip to see Gobustan State Reserve in Gobustan, approximately Gobustan away. There's lots more to do: examine the collection at Heydar Aliyev Center, explore the ancient world of Ateshgah Fire Temple, look for gifts at Menzer Hajiyeva Showroom, and don't miss a visit to Fountains Square.

Milwaukee, USA to Baku is an approximately 18-hour flight. Traveling from Milwaukee to Baku, you'll lose 10 hours due to the time zone difference. Traveling from Milwaukee in June, things will get a bit warmer in Baku: highs are around 83°F and lows about 67°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 5th (Fri) to allow time to drive to Gabala.

If you're fed up of the concrete jungle, take a trip to Gabala for the perfect getaway.
Kick off your visit on the 6th (Sat): admire the sheer force of Yeddi Gozel Waterfall, get in on the family fun at Gabaland, and then get outside with Tufandag Winter Summer Resort. Here are some ideas for day two: get curious at Gabala Archaeological Center, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Chotari Albanian-Udi Church, then have some family-friendly fun at Gabala Shooting Club, and finally contemplate the waterfront views at Nohur Lake.

Sheki is Azerbaijan’s true travel gem, a small city off the forested slopes of the Greater Caucasus Mountains rich in Silk Road history and renowned for its fascinating architecture, food, and friendly residents.
On the 8th (Mon), don't miss a visit to Sheki Fortress, take an in-depth tour of Sheki Khans' Palace, then admire the landmark architecture of Sheki Karvansaray, and finally pause for some serene contemplation at Church of Kish.

Traveling by car from Gabala to Sheki takes 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus. In June in Sheki, expect temperatures between 84°F during the day and 64°F at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 8th (Mon) so you can travel back home.
