The City of Eternal Flames, the City of Winds

A truly contemporary city criss-crossed by history, Baku offers everything from the modern elegance of the Flame Towers to the medieval UNESCO-listed Old City at its core.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Philharmonic Park and Heydar Mosque. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Baku: Gobustan (Mud Volcanoes & Gobustan State Reserve), Yeddi Gumbaz Mausoleum (in Shamakhi) and Masazir Lake (in Masazir). The adventure continues: steep yourself in history at Baku Old City, pause for some photo ops at Monument to Richard Sorge, see the interesting displays at Heydar Aliyev Center, and play a few rounds at Dreamland Golf Club.

To find maps and other tourist information, use the Baku day trip planner.

Stockholm, Sweden to Baku is an approximately 15-hour flight. The time zone changes from Central European Standard Time to Azerbaijan Standard Time, which is usually a 3 hour difference. Plan for a bit warmer temperatures traveling from Stockholm in June, with highs in Baku at 33°C and lows at 22°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 8th (Mon) early enough to travel back home.
