The City of Eternal Flames, the City of Winds

A truly contemporary city criss-crossed by history, Baku offers everything from the modern elegance of the Flame Towers to the medieval UNESCO-listed Old City at its core.
Get outdoors at Gobustan State Reserve and Yanardag. Baku Old City and Flame Towers are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Step out of Baku with an excursion to Candy Cane Mountains in Khizi--about 1h 45 min away. The adventure continues: examine the collection at Heydar Aliyev Center, identify plant and animal life at Wildlife Areas, step into the grandiose world of Palace of the Shirvanshahs, and shop like a local with Nizami Street/Torgovaya.

To find ratings, where to stay, photos, and other tourist information, refer to the Baku trip planner.

If you are flying in from United Arab Emirates, the closest major aiport is Heydar Aliyev International Airport. January in Baku sees daily highs of 8°C and lows of 2°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 6th (Thu) to allow enough time to travel back home.
